Jim Turner will present Scottsdale ~ The West’s Most Western Town. Arizona Historian Jim Turner has spent more than a year creating an Old Town Scottsdale self-guided walking tour for a phone app called VoiceMap. While the tour includes information about current shops and art galleries, this Powerpoint presentation focuses on the farming and ranching community founded by Chaplain Winfield Scott, the town’s rise as a healthseekers’ haven, an artist colony, and how it became one of the largest art gallery and resort locations in the United States. Author of several books, the most popular being: The Mighty Colorado River: From the Glaciers to the Gulf; Arizona: A Celebration of the Grand Canyon State; and The Grand Canyon; From Rim to River.
