Murrow Award.

Do you remember taking Spanish in high school? Dr. Christine Marin will tell us how Spanish became a major course of study because of Gràcia Liliana Fernàndez.

Dr. Marin, Professor Emeritus, Archivist-Historian at ASU, is the founder of the prestigious archival repository, Chicano/Chicana Research Collection and Archives at the Hayden Library in Tempe. She has won many awards for her work, and she is also the President of the Tempe History Society. She proudly hails from Globe, Arizona where she maintains close ties to the community and was inducted in the Globe High School Hall of Fame.

Hang on to your Guccis! This month we are joined by Kathie May, former president of the Arizona Costume Institute (ACI). ACI was founded in 1966 to support Phoenix Art Museum's Fashion Department in the acquisition and preservation of garments and accessories of historical and aesthetic significance. It also promotes appreciation and support of the museum's fashion exhibitions, which feature fashion as an art and cultural phenomenon.

Kathie May is a Fiesta Bowl emerita and Maricopa Community College professor emerita. We welcome her and the fashion stories she tells.

"It's All About US!" Most of our Historical League programs and activities focus on learning about others--but in March, through a social interaction activity, we slow down and take the time to focus on knowing and enjoying each other. This is a definite safe space to relax and learn about one another. From this meeting you will come away with a deeper appreciation of and for the old and new friendships you are making here. This is fast becoming a members' favorite.

The Arizona History Convention will be held on Saturday,  April 5, 2025, at the Tempe History Museum and Library Complex, located on the southwest corner of Rural and Southern Roads in Tempe, AZ. This one-day convention will consist of four 90-minute sessions, each with 3 individual paper presentations, grouped by subject matter. For further information, go to https://arizonahistory.org/
